Continuing on my classic Nintendo binge

I posted a while back after beating Super Mario Bros 1-3 and mentioned some of the other games I've started. It's been a while since then, so I thought I may post an update on what I've finished since then and what I'm working on now.
Super Mario World - beaten: played through this one, and did find it really enjoyable. I doubt I got all the secrets and everything, and may at some point go back to do so, but it was a nice experience nonetheless. However, so far my intuition from the original post seems to have held - I think I fall on the SMB3 side in the 2d Marios argument.
Super Mario Land - beaten: Quite different in some ways, including the replacement of fireballs with the superball or whatever it is. It's shorter and it's simplistic relative to pretty much every other entry, and unless it's the only Mario you've played I think you'll definitely notice both. That said it's not really a bad game or anything and I can imagine how special it must've been for the first time to be able to take Mario with you even if I wasn't there to experience it.
Super Mario Land 2 - beaten: a little more back on the regular path of Mario games and in this case I think definitely better for it. Had some really neat ideas like the rabbit suit for gliding with ears. I really thoroughly enjoyed this one, and it made me a bit sad that most of the Mario content on the GBA (my first handheld) was re-releases of older Mario. Although it was neat to have those available I think they could've made some pretty special new stuff on it too. I will say, I'm not sure if it was just the 3DS virtual console but the hit detection on the Space Land boss was kinda spotty for me, but I think I figured out the problem - whereas with other enemies you just need to hit the top, with him I think you need to hit the window, which is the half of the top facing toward the inner part of the screen (I kept hitting the rear top annoyingly). Besides that though, it was a great game.
Legend of Zelda - beaten: Fun game, if in a couple ways dated (mostly the times when you need to bomb a random wall for something to happen are a little annoying for me), but it's not enough to detract from an overall great game that laid the foundations for a series I largely love.
Zelda II - beaten: I knew it was kind of a dark horse of the series going in, but honestly, I enjoyed it more than I thought I might (some opinions led me to think it was going to be horrible). I don't think it's top tier or anything, and as a stylistic departure I like it a lot less than something like Mario 2, but it also has it moments. That said there's a definite increase in the idea of "you just have to randomly stumble on stuff" relative to 1, and that got a little old.
Zelda: A Link to the Past - beaten: starting to get into the real meat of the series. I played a good portion of this one when I was younger and so knew to expect to like it, and my expectations were certainly met. It is a terrific game and it felt great to play again, this time to completion.
Ninja Gaiden 1(NES) - beaten: I'd played a bit of it at the time of my last post and while there were definitely some cheap moments of stuff basically spawning on a specific trajectory to kill you mid jump and other similar stuff, I hadn't necessarily seen too much of the difficulty yet at that point. Man did that change. The game's reputation is certainly earned, and I'm not especially ashamed to say I needed to use a fair amount of the save states to beat it.
Anyone who can beat it legitimately has my absolute respect but I have a long backlog and not enough time, and it was more important to me to see the whole thing than spend 3 months developing a seething hatred of birds. I'm a little wary of going on to 2 and 3 at this point as I can only access them on the 3DS virtual console, which to my knowledge doesn't have any sort of save state or rewind feature, and I'm doubtful of my ability to beat them without this.
Mega Man 1 - beaten: another decently hard one, probably not on the order of Ninja Gaiden though, but genuinely enjoyable nonetheless. The platforming and gameplay is great and it set a template that's worked for years without too much change. Of the 3 I've beaten so far I found 1 the hardest by a significant amount.
Mega Man 2 - beaten: incredible game, really opens up on 1 in pretty much every way and set a great benchmark for the series going forward. I will pay someone if they can get the Wily theme or main theme out of my head, but I genuinely doubt it's possible.
Mega Man 3 - beaten: unfortunately, I feel less able to compare this to the other 2 as I beat them relatively close together whereas this one was more recent and after a substantial gap. Nonetheless, I found it enjoyable, the weapons were interesting still, the music definitely great if not quite as memorable for me as its immediate predecessor. If I had to pick a pain point, it took me way too long to figure out how to use the Top Spin, and I'm still not convinced I fully get it.
Kirby's Adventure - beaten: played it through when I spotted it on the Switch. I've always liked Kirby games despite the generally low difficulty. It's weird to realize that the copy ability wasn't there in the previous entry, but this one was pretty fun, and brought back some memories for me, as my second ever Kirby game was its enhanced remake Nightmare in Dreamland on the GBA. Really enjoyable, though not my favourite in the series. I do have the Kirby Dream Collection for Wii so I expect to post about other early entries sometime in the future.
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - playing: started this not too long ago and haven't progressed very far yet but Yoshi's Story was one of the first 3 Nintendo games I ever owned, and so even the little I've experienced has been very special for me so far. Like with SMB2, it's a break from norm, but also like SMB2 I can tell I'm going to love this one from fairly early on.
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land - playing: This has been interesting so far and a great twist on the series. I'm enjoying the differences in powerups and general playstyle in this one, and they did a great job of emphasizing the difference of Wario's physicality compared to Mario's. Haven't made it too far in yet but looking forward to more.
Zelda: Link's Awakening DX (GBC) - playing: this is my "active" game at the moment and I'm a good way into it by now. It may just unseat ALTTP for me but I'm not sure. Similar playstyle but I really love everything about it, especially the weirdness, the Mario and Yoshi references, etc. For anyone wondering, yes I'm planning to get to the remake eventually but I'm doing all the series I start in roughly release order so it's a while off yet. Also neat to see the item chain quest here cause it's a nice flashback to me of my first game in the series (and another of my first 3 Nintendo games) Ocarina of Time and the item chain there. It's neat how even in a mobile iteration you can start to see some increasing depth and complexity in the series. It's also kind of a prototype for 2 of my other favourite Zelda's, the Oracle games, which I'm looking forward to getting to in my playthrough.
Castlevania 1 - playing: So, quasi-confession time, I'm one of the people who absolutely adores Metroidvania style games, but I've never played a Castlevania from the pre-SotN era (nor sadly SotN itself - I never owned a Sony console when younger but don't worry, I have it on PSN and it will be part of my Castlevania series playthrough plan). That said, I did know the older ones were more arcadey. I did know they were hard. I wasn't entirely prepared for how hard it was. I think it's probably still a bit easier than Ninja Gaiden but not by as much as I may have hoped. That said, it's been really fun so far, if mildly infuriating at times, I love the orange and blue colour scheme, and I'm looking forward to delving further into a series I really love and learning more about a part of it that was previously unknown to me.
Final Fantasy 1 - playing: the first game to really enter into this project that's quite a bit larger in scale than what I've been playing up to this point, and it is orders of magnitude more game so far. I've played for quite a few hours and so far have only made it to the Crescent Lake. As I've only dealt with one Crystal so far, I don't know if that means I'm only a quarter of the way into the game, or if a lot of stuff is frontloaded and there's not as much in-between content with the later crystals. In either case I'm really loving it so far.
I'm playing the Origins version on PS Vita on the advice of many many people to get to try the original game's magic system (really like the mana setup with it so I'm glad I took this advice). I am playing on Easy Mode as from what I read it doesn't actually make the fights any easier it just means less grinding (things cost less and levelling happens faster is my understanding). Given that even this makes it feel like a bit of a slog to buy the new spells in each area I don't at all regret making this choice (though admittedly my team is magic-heavy with 3 mages - one of each type, but I like mages).
I'm happy to be playing this for a number of reasons, I got addicted to some fast match multiplayer games a number of years back and not only started ignoring my backlog, but found I couldn't really concentrate long enough to get through longer games. For someone whose favourite genres are RPGs (particularly JRPGs and SRPGs) this was pretty terrible and meant I didn't play nearly as many of the games I liked as I should've over a long period. But beating this is gonna feel great and be a first step toward restoring my confidence in playing longer things.
Fire Emblem (7) (GBA) - playing: another one I'm really glad to get back to, the first I ever played in what is one of my all time favourite series. I've only beaten Lyn's campaign again so far but it feels awesome to be back among old friends and as my 2nd favourite entry in the series, only behind Sacred Stones (I know, very much outside the standard ranking) it's held up for me incredibly well. The art in particular I don't think has ever been surpassed in the series - I greatly prefer the dynamic sprite animations to the later more stilted 3D and the brighter colour palette here. Additionally this one had an engaging and in-depth story from start to finish, and I'm really going to enjoy running through it again.
Star Fox 1 (SNES) - tried: sorry for any fans of the original Star Fox but I think I have to mention this here as I doubt I'll ever get much further. I'm not sure if it's just the Switch version is janked up but the controls to me felt extremely floaty and delayed and I just couldn't get the hang of it. I hate that fact cause I know besides 64 this is the one that a lot of people seem to like but it just felt really off to me. I'll still try Star Fox 2 now that it's out, but for the time being I have to stick with 64 being the only great entry in the series. I know some people are fans of later entries, I've played most of them. Dinosaur Planet was not good for me, Assault and Command were okay but not great and I haven't played Zero but didn't hear very good things either. If you think maybe there's something I missed in 1 I'm willing to give it another try but the controls for me were just very much not aligned with my expectations.
Not Nintendo related but I also played Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice since the last time, and additional probably controversial opinion, I didn't really enjoy it as much as I was expecting to from all the praise. No judgment to anyone who did, but the gameplay to me was kinda flimsy, I didn't really get hooked by the story much, the puzzles were fine I guess but nothing spectacular, and the lore probably had less effect on me than on most people who played it cause I've actually read a fair bit of Norse myth and studied it a bit in school, so it wasn't really anything new to me. That said, I did rather like the art design, especially of some of the bosses. Valravn in particular stood out in that regard.
With that - I don't think I've forgotten anything. It's possible as it's been quite a while, but just wanted to say thanks to everyone who reads any or all of this, and everyone who read or engaged with my last post. It definitely gave me a really positive and wholesome view of the community here and I hope these are sufficiently spaced out so as not to be spammy. Feel free to ask me for further thoughts on anything I mentioned, what my future plans are regarding what to play, or anything game related I guess really. Hope this can be entertaining for at least a few people, and appreciate anyone interested in my monumental backlog journey.

My very long wishlist for mario maker 2

-Shorter rails, allowing for more diverse roller coasters
-ice clown cars, since there is a fire clown car
-more themes, like mario galaxy, mario land, wario land, yoshis island, smb2 (both versions), new super mario bros ds, wii, and 2, mario odyssey, mario 64, and super mario all stars
-more power ups, like the poison mushroom, acorn mushroom, ice flower, shell, penguin suit, frog suit, hammer bro suit, gold flower, etc.
-hopefully more yoshis (blue and yellow) and their accompanying shells
-more amiibo costumes (ridley, k rool)
-more enemies: chainsaws, stand alone bullet/banzai/golden banzai bills, shy guys, sniffits
-same world pipes (that act like doors)
-more themes: night, starry night (the one level from mario u), and cloud
